BFF RAL selective amnesia

that is the only explanation for me picking this up again today. Well that and an optimistic thought that having managed some finishes recently of slightly bigger projects , Crowned Cross and The project that is slated for seasonal sharing perhaps I could get another project sorted.

At first glance there is not a lot left to do, but and it is a big but what is left is special stitches. Ah yes that's why I paused.

I have it out so what looks the easiest, there are stems to do, ah stem stitch on the sixth month, the sixth flower. I did get that done, lazy daisy leaves, no not feeling that stitch. I procrastinate by looking for anything else in the colour in my needle. Ah yes there is and joy it is just backstitch on the poppies.

That felt like a lot of effort, but it has got me started.
However there was a lot of muttering about the chart and the key.

All of the stitches are identified by a shape, with the symbol of the colour to use with a line pointing to the section to be completed with that stitch type and shade.

It is eye boggling, and that is also something I forgot!

having picked it up again I might manage to keep going to a finish or perhaps not.

Maybe it will be my project for next BFF RAL.

I wait to see.

Sunday Stitchings 24 August 2025

There was less stitching time today as there were three naming and blessings, always something special.

There was also a baptism after the service but we were not able to stay for that.

There was more dark purple today and a little bit more filling in.

Filling in and the strong colours are relaxing but I am doing to have to go back to shaded of brown and cat at some point.

A little stitch

a little ohps and a little fix from a cover kit.

The ohps well the bee is a stitch wider than he was supposed to be.

I am not as yet sure if little bee is going to go in the mount that he came with.

he will still fit in this hoop arrangement.

Whilst it might become a keyring (might)I am pretty sure I won't be making and adding a blue tassel. The thread for the tassel kept making me think why so much blue thread in the kit when there is very little blue in the pattern, then recall oh it is for the tassel.

It was fun to do, and being me I placed it on the Aida so I could do another one or three!

Sunday Stitching 17 August 2025

What a nice day at Church, weather nice, dry sunny but not too hot and the view down to the sea was beautiful.

The talks were good and all three speakers were nice and clear which made it easy for my parents to hear.

I ended up filling in some of the purple, the symbol for this shade jumped out at me, it was nice to do something with minimal counting.

The good part is this pattern has no backstitching. I am very appreciative of that as the project mentioned in my last post has backstitch that does not conform to the edges of the cross stitching. It jumps at angles the go over more than four stitches. A good portion of it is black on either black or very dark grey. My eyes do not appreciate this in progress although they do acknowledge the impact on the finished look.

BFF RAL ?

Might be the heat, might be work things taking up headspace that it should not out of work hours, we were both somewhat  meh! About what to work on tonight.

So we planned to thread sort, on cover kits or check stock in the thread stash.

But on the night I felt more like tackling ninja stitches in a long running "season based" stitch that even my BFF has not as yet seen,

So that is what I did and here is a snippet teaser.

I might even get it finished this year.

Click Here to see what my BFF did for the evening, well other than look for her perforator plyers, which she did find and now live in her box of cover kits, noted here in case we both forget where she put that item !

A Tie quilt?

well maybe sort of. Potentially. I once saw a quilt which incorporated ties and I rather liked it. It might have stayed at yet another pretty image (and goodness knows it still may not progress that much) but my local hospice shop Alice House Hospice had some new ties. One Hundred percent silk and £1 for three.

I bought ties.

And they sat and waited. And waited some more and more and eventually I got around to unpicking them.

I expected this to result in removing a stiff inner that I would discard, I have had to fix one of my fathers favourite ties where the stiffener separated in the middle and whilst fix it I did that stuff was not something I could foresee me doing anything with.

The unpicking went faster than I expected, remove the label, snip holding stitches at each end and then the wiped stitched thread came out nice and easy. Perhaps too easy, yes I have wound the thread round a bobbin and it will get used at some point on a something. Shades of brown, grey and black I have some thread.

I thought once unpicked they would take up less room.

That might have been true if I could bring myself to throw away the inner tie stuff. Problem is it is nice "stuff" and usable and do something with and nope can't throw it away.

So now rather than less it is more, the space these component parts, for quilt (and, hmm stiffening in a bag handle, oh or bags. I am sure I will think of some thing, several somethings) manages to take up more space that the ties did in the first place.

And the tie quilt, well I still have to do some figuring out there, as I saw only a picture, no pattern no instructions I an just going to have to make it up as I go along.

A little something

to keep my hands busy and use some "oh interesting" purchases and bits.

Firstly, some little hessian bags.

Secondly some un-numbered gifted thread

Then some little plastic flowers and a pearl (I bought quite a few looking for the right size and now I have many available for adding wherever).

And done.

I have some of everything left so I might repeat it next time I have the hand figits but don't feel up to working on any of the bigger projects.
