BFF SAL 9

 on the edge..in more ways than one.

Now we had a skip week last week as for both of us the work day had drained our energy. So you did not miss an update.

(nor did you miss an update on my class, it was cancelled as the teacher was unwell)

So I have contemplated the edge.

And at last made a start. I am going off on my own tangent here and plan to do top and bottom, then sides and figure out the corners last when I get to them. 

I think there was so much joy in the tree that we were thinking up any reason to add to our sewing time. However I have so much unused allowed time to roll over I have lost count.  and As I am going to be doing so little edge compared to my BFF doing the full pattern, I will just be sewing on tis during our Skype sessions going forward. My friend has unlimited dispensation to sew on it at will.

Unless, I find just the right piece of material to start it over again and do the full piece, mind my friends experience with that may colour my choice!

IHSW another planet

 completed.

and this sessions TV, well I was watching in good company a celebration.

However unlike yesterdays TV accompaniment, this needed more watching than listening so I put the sewing down. Happily in time to give my full attention to the drummers. Wow!

 So another Eurovision and more stitching.

Another little planet finished and the UK entry went well with the subject matter.

I do hope to fit in some more stitching as part of the IHSW

maybe another planet will be completed, one of the little ones maybe.

oh and the UK came second....

NCFE week three

ah well this was a little disappointing but also amusing on the resin side as the little heart I shared last week apparently had a small hole in the mould and it leaked so there is no heart.  I was not the only one in the class with a leaking heart, very sad.

Now I also had made another resin item which I had not shared as it might potentially have become a gift.

Hooray you say!

Well maybe not as that item has vanished. There is a slim chance that it has simply been mislaid however, the tutor thinks it has been spirited away between the evening of the class and the next morning. She announced to the class that as beautiful as their resin objects were mine was quite obviously superior as it had been stolen.

I hold out hope it has just been misplaced.

I should know which by next week.

On the plus side there was the card to finish (and more paperwork for the accreditation)

Could have done with bigger flowers I think. Sizing was tricky as the card was not at home and I was guessing at the size.

Now next week there is an option of learning how to make a junk journal or trying marbling on an object.

At the moment I am undecided.

BFF SAL 9 or is it?

 So my roll over time resulted in finished corners.

and then...became all indecisive, about what I wanted to do next, what colour to use and so did nothing at all.

Skype time and still nothing and it was time to sew.

I thought I had it, light out to dark and just a straight simple stitch , made a start

and not happy with it. I know it is very pale but that is not my issue, not sure what it is so more contemplation required.

Which meant a change of project for the rest of the evening.

Out came Millennium, a nice bit of white fill in the Earth and the little blue planet is completed, so that feels like big progress even if it is just a little planet.

NCFE Level 1 Award in Creative Craft

 Week two..this did not go to plan on several points.

One, this course was supposed to add a bit of exercise into my crafting life due to the walk there and back.

However on the way home from work something went ping in my leg (getting home was a slow job) and the evenings walks turned into taxi rides.

Two, we were supposed to be finishing off the cards the marble effect had been placed on last week  (click here for a reminder). I had prepared some things to use (yup that took up some of my BFF rollover time) and was looking forward to seeing how it would look. Sadly the teacher must of been having the same sort of week that I was having and forgot to bring our cards to the class.

So it was on to using the resin.  Yes that is the thing I have not tried since I was seven, one of those craft kit things that were popular when I was a child. It came with bits to set in it and was supposed to make jewellery with findings for a ring and a broach. It was a sad failure as the bits once set did not want to come out of the hard plastic mould.

So more than a few years later and we were all aprons and gloves and masks and glasses, and pouring and adding flowers.

However, the timing was all off , and the setting too slow for the evening, so carefully placed additions to the resin floated and moved as they liked. So in this instance random was so much easier to achieve.

Not much of a picture this week.

I picked the mould and colours to go with my intentions for the card and used dried flowers provided by the teacher. Other class members brought in sea glass or watch cogs and rusted bits of stuff.  So next week fingers crossed for the card and that the resin set. Mind we are on a promise to have another go if it has not.

I might get a picture or two of the alternative additions.

BFF SAL 9 Running

 out of puff.

Been a busy time and the sewing took a back seat and the roll over time just kept rolling over.

Even the Skype time was not completely free of  the worlds busy pushing in.

So I started with three corners finished and ended ..well like this.

I think there is a mental slowing down on the basis of once that last corner fill is completed I need to make a decision of square or rectangle. And how much of the pattern as is to still follow.

Hopefully by next week I will have firmed that up one way or another.

I am posting later than my friend due to the same external stuff getting in the way.
